Tuesday Testimony – Alysha Smith
As we travel on our spiritual journey, it’s always encouraging to hear from others how God has worked in their lives. Periodically we’ll share testimonies from our NAOBC Women on how God worked in their life. Today’s testimony is from Alysha Smith.
Alysha and her family have been members of NAOBC for six years. Alysha and he husband, Collin, are involved in YC3 BFG and you can read more about Alysha here.

I wasn’t saved until I moved back home from college then was back at our local church consistently week to week. I was able to cultivate meaningful relationships with a few ladies who are/were mentors, sisters and friends in my life. They poured into me, asking me all the hard questions and my one mentor and sister, Evelyn (who just passed away recently) had asked me, “Are you a baptized believer; have you given your life over to Christ and if you haven’t been baptized, why not?” I had honestly never been consistently at church in my youth and teenage years and no one had asked me these questions because I wasn’t there. When I was attending, I’m guessing many assumed that I had been asked and just didn’t have that relationship with Christ, nor believed.
After I had professed that I did believe that Christ died for my sins, that I was striving for that relationship with Him and wanted to be in eternity one day with Him, I was ready to be baptized. I’m so, so thankful for my mentors who poured into me hours and worked through studies as well, showing me the love of Christ.
I’m praying that many women who read this do ask those questions to younger women who are at church, who aren’t baptized believers; that we would be intentional with those who have yet received mentorship from older women.
I’m beyond grateful for the full gospel explanation and how it truly changed my life for the better and I’m living daily glorifying God and asking for his grace, forgiveness and help as I fall short!
I wanted to quickly share a moment of how I experienced God’s love, faithfulness and goodness when I was pregnant with my son Emet. It was a high-risk pregnancy around the 20-30 week time frame, as we discovered I had placenta previa (my placenta was overlaying my cervix and wasn’t moving over as Emet was growing exponentially bigger.) God was merciful to save both Emet and I and taught me true rest while I was in and out of the Antepartum Unit at the hospital. I would spend Christmas there and have a lot of true rest while I was there; resting in God’s Word! God knew exactly where I needed to be, that Emet was going to arrive early and that I needed to be able to get right in for an emergency C-section! That’s true love and complete provision of God being faithful, even when I didn’t want, nor like what was happening to me in this pregnancy. I was fully trusting that God was going to have His will be done for Emet and I. I’m so, so thankful that God showed His love and mercy to us as well as the care that my family gave to my daughter Charlotte while I wasn’t able to care for her. Even in the timing for my husband to still be able to work through this trying time our family endured. As a whole, He allowed for each success amidst the trial.
