Tuesday Testimonies – Nikki Konzem

As we travel on our spiritual journey, it’s always encouraging to hear from others how God has worked in their lives. Periodically we’ll share testimonies from our NAOBC Women on how God worked in their life. Today’s testimony is from Nikki Konzem.

Nikki and her husband, James, have been members at NAOBC for about 17 years. They are parents to Emily and Lily. You can read more about Nikki here.

A time recently when I recall that God did a great, obvious work was last fall when my Grandma died. She had been sick for several months and had suffered several falls. She recovered from those but then contracted COVID, then found out she had cancer. My Mom was staying at her home in St Louis, caring for her needs. My Mom and Grandma had been very close, and my Mom was distressed at seeing my Grandma being critically ill for months. I felt torn because I wanted to be there for my Mom and Grandma, but I live four hours away and have a family to care for here. The Lord provided the opportunity to visit my Grandma during that time, and we were able to share memories and laugh while she was still able to think clearly and remember me. I got to talk to her about faith in Jesus and prayed with her. That was a very sweet time and I’m grateful to have had that time with her. A month or so later she passed away. Her memorial was planned for that November, and my family members asked me to share a eulogy (along with several other family members). As we were heading to the funeral as a family, I was feeling anxious. I wanted to share the gospel during the eulogy time, and I wasn’t sure if people would be receptive. There was tension between some family members and emotions were high. I wasn’t sure how the funeral day was going to go. I asked my small group from BFG to pray as we drove to the funeral. I asked the Lord to bring peace and to work in the situation. He was so kind and answered this prayer! He gave me peace and joy as I shared my testimony at the eulogy. The memorial service went well; family members were peaceful with each other and the Lord was honored. I was able to connect with some family members that weekend that I hadn’t seen in a long time. It was a sweet time to remember my Grandparents as well. Praise God for answered prayer!
