Tuesday Testimonies – Ginger Wilkinson

As we travel on our spiritual journey, it’s always encouraging to hear from others how God has worked in their lives. Periodically we’ll share testimonies from our NAOBC Women on how God worked in their life. Today’s testimony is from Ginger Wilkinson.

Ginger has been a member at NAOBC since January 2013. She attends AC3 and acts as their missions rep. Ginger has served in many capacities at NAOBC – VBS, adult choir, Love the Ville – and you can see her smiling face as a greeter on many Sunday mornings. You can read more about Ginger here.

Joel 2:25-26

“Then I will make up to you for the years
That the swarming locust has eaten,
The creeping locust, the stripping locust and the gnawing locust,
My great army which I sent among you.
You will have plenty to eat and be satisfied
And praise the name of the Lord your God,
Who has dealt wondrously with you;
Then My people will never be put to shame.”

The Lord has been SO FAITHFUL to me, even though I have too often been unfaithful. In my repentance He has brought about incredible and undeserved blessings and I am SO THANKFUL!

When I left my husband, I thought my teenage son would move with me; but he stayed with his dad. I missed out on so much because of my sin. The consequences were not unlike creeping, stripping, and gnawing locusts. Yet God brought me out of the pit onto solid ground once again and is making up for it in amazing ways, as only He can do in His grace and mercy.

My son married a delightful woman and they now have twins—a boy and a girl—grandchildren I didn’t expect! This is when God started “making up” for lost years because they needed my help with those precious babies. This meant I was really in my son’s life again and not just for the occasional meal as had been the case. I became GOC, Grandma On Call. And call they did—hallelujah and amen! God was making up for the years the locusts had eaten!

I spent the night in the nursery for night-time feedings, so I was there in the mornings. My son often made me coffee and my favorite cinnamon toast! I helped in the daytime, folded laundry, took them meals and very glad to do so…God making up for the years the locusts had eaten!

My son and daughter-in-law have been very grateful for my help, so we are closer than ever! … again, God making up for the years the locusts had eaten.

By the twins’ first year I moved closer to their house and am only a five-minute drive from garage to garage! This was more convenient for the parents to easily drop off the twins and for me to be at their house for the bedtime routine and for date night, etc. God was satisfying me with sweet cuddle time, rocking a baby to sleep while humming a hymn and praying for this family—nothing like it!

As the twins grow and my duties change, I continue to pray for God to equip me with “grandma gifts” to best meet the need of this glorious opportunity. God has truly “dealt wondrously” with me and I praise His name!
