Tuesday Testimonies – Adriana Boyd
As we travel on our spiritual journey, it’s always encouraging to hear from others how God has worked in their lives. Periodically we’ll share testimonies from our NAOBC Women on how God worked in their life. Today’s testimony is from Adriana Boyd.
Adriana and Brennan have been at NAOBC since the summer of 2020 and their daughter, Miriam, was born in 2021. Adriana attends the Women’s BFG and Brennan attends the Men’s BFG. You can read more about them here.

Through recent accidents, my husband and I have coined a silly term called an “opposite miracle”: when God’s intervention protects somebody by uncoupling an otherwise cause and effect relationship. In an “opposite miracle” something doesn’t happen that logically should by all other metrics. In the long run, it leads to a deep awareness of God’s blessing and protection.
Last summer, my husband was t-boned on the driver side by a woman who ran a red light. His car was pushed 3 lanes over into a telephone pole, which did not even manage to fully stop his car. He crawled out of the crushed car with one large scratch on his arm. The first responders told us they had never seen someone walk out of an accident that bad. This was our first big “opposite miracle”. That horrible accident should have killed or severely injured him but didn’t. This event that would anger most people became a time of praise for Brennan’s protection.
In our most recent freak accident, our daughter, Miriam, had a gravestone fall on her. We were distraught and unsure how bad the damage was. In the end, she only broke 1 bone – her tibia (shin bone). She did not require surgery and the growth plate wasn’t affected. She wore a cast for 5 weeks and then a boot for less than 3 weeks. She did not even need physical therapy! Now she’s running faster than before her injury. Another “opposite miracle”! To see her broken leg made me sick to my stomach (and I will forever cringe replaying that evening in my head). However, to think about that 100lb gravestone landing anywhere other than her leg still makes me tear up thanking God for his protection. The grave literally tried to hold my toddler down but God has something else planned for her. We were blessed and encouraged by friends and family caring for us as Miriam recovered.
We have been grateful to share with others about God’s gracious protection in our lives. We are now, more than ever, so curious to see the plans the Lord has in store for us as a family and specifically for Miriam! Our brave hype-girl!
