Summer Book Chat and More to Come
It’s been a long time since we’ve gathered together as women of our church to fellowship and grow in Christ together. Thanks to our Discipleship Groups, we’ve been able to get back into a small group environment and begin to grow together. As we embark on this post-pandemic life, we have prayed about how to best serve the women of our church. From our time of prayers and listening to what women have said we’re revamping our Women’s Ministry. As always, we support the overall vision of our church and encourage women to be a part of our church wide Discipleship Groups. For those serving on Wednesday nights in choir or the children’s ministry, our future semester registrations will offer an option for a home study group at another time.
After our successful Christmas Gift Exchange, we asked the mastermind behind that idea, Beth Blackwell, to join Jaylynn and I in co-leading the women’s ministry. When you read about the life of Moses in the Bible, Miriam was always his hype girl. Cheering him on and watching out for him. Beth is definitely our women’s ministry hype girl. She has the ability to draw people in and get them excited. We’re thrilled that after her long stint as Preschool Director she is now our hype girl. We’ve also assembled a team of ladies from across our BFGs to help spread the word about our coming events and recruit you to help volunteer.

As part of our revamping, we decided to start Summer Book Chat. With Discipleship Groups ending in May, many of our women want to continue some sort of spiritual growth over the summer, even though schedules and vacations may prohibit weekly meeting, we wanted a solution that would work. That’s where Summer Book Chat comes in. We’ll be reading the book, Identity Theft: Reclaiming the Truth of Our Identity in Christ, written by Melissa Kruger with other contributors. We’ll come together on Saturday, July 16 from 10am – 12noon to have a time of fellowship and then meet up in small groups to discuss the book. Each group will be multi-generational allowing for women to get to know other women from across the generations. We’ll open with a time of fellowship where you’ll be able to bring a brunch dish and spend time with other ladies before our small group time. Registration opens June 1, which will give you plenty of time to get your book and read it by July 16. This is a good way to bridge the gap between our Discipleship Group semesters. And if you’ve never been a part of a Discipleship Group, this allows you to get a taste of what that would be like.
Looking forward, we’ll be having our Christmas Gift Exchange again on December 3. It was such a hit, we plan to do it annually, so save the date and start collecting your gifts! In 2023, we plan on having an event each quarter. The last half of the year we’ll have the Summer Book Chats and the Christmas Gift Exchange. In February and April, we’ll be hosting a one-day gathering and fellowship surrounding a topic that is of interest to our women. We’re excited about our new format and what God will do in the lives of our ladies.
We’ll see you this summer!
