NAOBC For Life Spotlight – Molly Gervacio

When you are a member at NAOBC, no matter where God takes you, the love for NAOBC remains. It’s part of your DNA. Periodically we’ll spotlight women who were former members – see where they are today and what NAOBC means to them. Today we’re meeting Molly Gervacio.

Q: Tell a little about yourself – family, occupation (if applicable), etc.

A: I am married to my sweet husband, Josh, and have four kiddos—Isaac (7), Jojo (7) who we adopted from Nigeria in 2018, Abigail (4), and Mary (4) who we adopted from Nigeria in 2023. We currently live in Valdosta, Georgia, where Josh serves on staff at Covenant Baptist Church. During this current season, my fulltime job is serving my family by homeschooling the two girls and striving to take every opportunity to serve the local church—both are such a gift from the Lord!

Q: When did you attend NAOBC? What brought you to NAOBC?

A: Josh attended SBTS from 2013-2017, and began attending NAOBC in 2014. The Lord was so kind to lead us to NAOBC after a few months of searching for a church in Louisville. We came with our friends, the Papendorfs, and I am pretty sure we never went anywhere else after that. The love and hospitality of Christ shown through every person we met and they took no time diving into our lives, intentionally reaching out, and we knew this would be our church family during this season. Our Father knew just what we needed in this season and knit our hearts together especially with those in our Young Couples BFG

Q: Where did you serve while at NAOBC?

A. I served at the children’s check-in desk which I was so thankful for—being able to put names and faces together was such a gift! I also served in the nursery.

Q: What memory from your time at NAOBC means the most to you still today?

A. It is so hard to narrow down which memory means the most because of the large impact NAOBC had and continues to have on our family, our desires, and the way we do ministry!

Our mission trip to Southeast Asia in 2015 with NAOBC is one that our Father used to soften our hearts to those who have never heard the Gospel and remind us of the privilege we have as His children to make His name known to the nations!

During our time at NAOBC, the Lord used so many families to really challenge and fan into flame the desire to adopt. I specifically remember sitting down with the Ring family asking them if they thought we were crazy for pursing a little boy in Nigeria and we are forever grateful for their encouragement that night. We received an adoption scholarship which allowed us to start the process, and as I type this I am looking over at our sweet seven year old son, Jojo, who we can’t imagine life without.

Lastly, our BFG (Gabriel Hinerman’s BFG at that time) gave us lifelong friendships that we still have today and taught us the importance of life-on-life community!

Q: What is one thing you loved about NAOBC?

A: Goodness, there are so many things I could say. I am thankful for Dr. Cook’s deep, Christ-centered, yet applicable preaching, the hearts, like-mindedness, and fellowship of believers, and their heart for the nations, for the least of these, and for those in their own backyard. Our lives were forever changed by NAOBC.
