NAOBC For Life Spotlight – Karen Saltsman

When you are a member at NAOBC, no matter where God takes you, the love for NAOBC remains. It’s part of your DNA. Periodically we’ll spotlight women who were former members – see where they are today and what NAOBC means to them. Today we’re meeting Karen Saltsman.

Q: Tell a little about yourself – family, occupation (if applicable), etc.

A: Jimmy and I have been married almost 47 years. We were both baptized at Ninth & O, married by Brother Butler at Ninth & O, and watched both of our kids become believers and follow the Lord in baptism at Ninth & O. We have two kids, Ang and Jacob, and nine grandkids! We retired in 2018 and love retirement!

Q: When did you attend NAOBC? What brought you to NAOBC?

A: My parents brought me to Ninth & O when I was in the 9th or 10th grade (1970 or 71) and our family moved our membership to Highview in 1996.

Q: Where did you serve while at NAOBC?

A: I worked in the bus ministry, the nursery and the youth.

Q: What memory from your time at NAOBC means the most to you still today?

A: I love the memories of when I was in the youth group at Ninth & O! We took such fun trips and I made life long friends. Working in the bus ministry and doing bus visitation on Saturday morning with some great leaders, Harvey Hyde, Jo Horsley, and Danny Martin was certainly a highlight of my time there and serving in the youth.

Q: What is one thing you loved about NAOBC?

A: 100% the people! I think of the rhyme “Here is the church, here is the steeple, open the doors and see all the people” The folks at 9th & O will always be my “people”!
