NAOBC For Life Spotlight – Courtney Ellingson

When you are a member at NAOBC, no matter where God takes you, the love for NAOBC remains. It’s part of your DNA. Periodically we’ll spotlight women who were former members – see where they are today and what NAOBC means to them. Today we’re meeting Courtney Ellingson.

Q: Tell a little about yourself – family, occupation (if applicable), etc.

A: I’ve been married to Joe for nearly 13 years and we have Zoe, who turns 10 in August. We currently live in Pittsburgh, PA, where we’ve lived for about two years. We moved here to help plant New Horizon Church in the North Hills. Joe works with the AV team and plays bass for the worship band, while I work in the Hospitality team and serve with our Children’s Church.

During the week, I work for Auto-Owners Insurance as a Claims Manager.

Q: When did you attend NAOBC? What brought you to NAOBC?

A: I attended NAOBC in 2006-2007 while attending Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Unfortunately my time was cut short when I moved home to become the primary caregiver for my terminally ill mother.

Q: Where did you serve while at NAOBC?

A: I was involved with the singles ministry and served with the youth group.

Q: What memory from your time at NAOBC means the most to you still today?

A: Every Sunday night after church a large group would go out to dinner. It’s where I met most of the people I know and am still friends with from my short time there.

Q: What is one thing you loved about NAOBC?

A: NAOBC was my first experience with a theologically sound church. It taught me that it is good and necessary to *know* God, not just feel Him. I learned what discipleship is and how necessary it is.
