NAOBC For Life Spotlight – Bobbie Jo Underwood
When you are a member at NAOBC, no matter where God takes you, the love for NAOBC remains. It’s part of your DNA. Periodically we’ll spotlight women who were former members – see where they are today and what NAOBC means to them. Today we’re meeting Bobbie Jo Underwood.
Q: Tell a little about yourself – family, occupation (if applicable), etc.
A: My husband, Drew, and I have been married for 12 years and have three beautiful daughters, Ellie Jo, Savannah, and Jessa. Drew is currently the pastor at Raikes Hill Baptist Church and the airport manager at Capital City Airport in Frankfort. I am the Grants Specialist at Campbellsville University, where I am also working on my MBA while simultaneously homeschooling our daughters. Our life is busy and full of joy.
Q: When did you attend NAOBC? What brought you to NAOBC?
A: We attended NAOBC from July 2019 through June 2021 while we were in Louisville for Drew to attend SBTS. Our goal wasn’t to leave so soon, but we had family members with health concerns that we wanted to return to and help them through.

Q: Where did you serve while at NAOBC?
A. During our time at NAOBC, we served on the greeting team, and Lord’s supper preparations team; we were community group leaders in our BFG YC3, I was in the choir, and Drew was in the Pastoral Apprenticeship class. I also began serving in the children’s BFGs shortly before we left.
Q: What memory from your time at NAOBC means the most to you still today?
A: While no one memory stands out most, all of my favorite memories from NAOBC include our wonderful BFG, YC3. They became our family and we loved being able to do life with them, celebrate through good times, and come alongside one another in hard times. Countless meals, get-togethers, parties, baby showers, and game nights fill my memories. Every single member of YC3 was an encouragement in my life and I am so thankful to those wonderful sisters and brothers in Christ.

Q: What is one thing you loved about NAOBC?
A: One of the many things I loved about NAOBC was their efforts to join members through various groups, events, and classes. Connecting with members I wouldn’t otherwise get to know made NAOBC feel like such an intimate and close-knit congregation. One of my favorite ways was through the small group book discussion of the beautiful book of God’s character, Gentle and Lowly, and joining in deep discussions and prayer time with ladies of all generations.
