NAOBC For Life Spotlight – Amber Nelson

When you are a member at NAOBC, no matter where God takes you, the love for NAOBC remains. It’s part of your DNA. Periodically we’ll spotlight women who were former members – see where they are today and what NAOBC means to them. Today we’re meeting Amber Nelson.

Q: Tell a little about yourself – family, occupation (if applicable), etc.

A: I am daughter of the amazing Sandy Hazelrig and stepdad Danny Hazelrig.  I am married to John Nelson, Pastor of Spring Creek Baptist Church in Clarksville, TN. We have been married just shy of 20 years and have two beautiful girls, Adelyn (10) and Brantley (8). I am in my second year of working in the front office of my girls’ school, Rossview Elementary, and loving every minute of it.

Q: When did you attend NAOBC? What brought you to NAOBC?

A: I attended NAOBC from 1984-2005. My family started to attend NAOBC when I was six, and it was my school until 8th grade and church home until after I met and married John.

Q: Where did you serve while at NAOBC?

A. My time at NAOBC led to many different opportunities of service. I served in the youth, nursery, children’s choir, and children’s Sunday School.

Q: What memory from your time at NAOBC means the most to you still today?

A: I have so many memories, that it is really hard to name just one. I was saved and baptized there. I got to travel the US doing mission trips and choir tours. I met some of my closest friends there. I was called out and challenged to be who God created me to be, not who the world wanted. I got to be mentored and taught by the one and only Rose Booth (who my first daughter is named after) and I got to fall in love with my husband and get married there.

Q: What is one thing you loved about NAOBC?

A: I think the thing that I love most about NAOBC, are the people. I still love getting to go back and visit and see all the amazing people that the Lord has blessed me with from NAOBC. It will always be home, and the place I love to come back to!!
