Meet the Women of NAOBC – Nancy Clem

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Nancy Clem.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: I started working in accounting at LG&E when I was 19, which is where I met Chuck, my husband. We were married two years later and celebrated our 50th anniversary in November 2019. We have two sons…Billy and Brian. We have 6 grandkids from the ages of 14 to 22! Since we retired, we spend around five months a year in Florida, mostly during the summer.

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: We started at Ninth & O in 1974 because of the Ninth & O Day Care. Both of our boys went to Ninth & O Academy. Billy graduated in the last graduating class in 1993 and Brian transferred to Highview Baptist (now Whitefield Academy) where he graduated. I have served on the old “Ministry Board” and worked in the nursery once a month for years.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: I served 10 years as the secretary for Bro. Butler’s Sunday School Class. (Bro. Butler was our longest tenured pastor at NAOBC)

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: The woman that had the most impact on my Christian life was Lillian Gambrell. (Lillian Gambrell served for years as NAOBC Preschool and Day Care Director.) I was her prayer partner for a while and she had a lot of influence on me to become a member and to encourage me to read the Bible more. Since I wasn’t saved while attending a Baptist church, (I was saved while a member of the Disciple of Christ Church), I had to be baptized again and she helped me understand and walked me through that time of my life.

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: I feel that the Lord has been with me more this year because of the chaotic state this world is in! Some things like our health and family has become more important than ever. My prayers have been focused on keeping us and our kids and grandkids healthy, and more importantly, in-tune with the Lord!
