Meet the Women of NAOBC – Danielle Holmes
On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Danielle Holmes.
Q: Tell us about yourself
A: Peter and I have been married for nearly five years. The Lord has blessed us with two preschool-aged children — Mara Ruth (age 3) and Ezra (almost-age 2) — and we look forward to welcoming our newest addition, Miriam Joy, this month. I work full-time in finance and grants management (remotely). Since the introduction of Covid-19, my “9 to 5” also includes caring for our two littles. While one of my greatest joys is spending time together as a family, I also enjoy the rare occasions to bake or sew.
Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC
A: I have been attending NAOBC for nearly six years. Peter and I met in NAOBC’s Singles BFG, and we built a friendship serving in children’s choir and AWANA. For the past five years, we have had the joy to serve in and belong to NAOBC’s College BFG. We love walking alongside students as we stir up one another to love and good works and become family to those who are far from home. Our kiddos have also been influenced by these godly men and women, for which we are abundantly thankful.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?
A: While it is no surprise to those closest to me, I love a good deal. Whether it’s bag of toddler pajamas from a consignment shop or hosting dinner for 25 college students for $10 or less (that also tastes delicious!) I love the simple pleasure of a bargain.
Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?
A: Without a doubt, my Mom has been the most impactful woman in my life. Her love for the Lord, devotion to family, and generous/hospitable spirit has been hugely instrumental. However, I would be remiss not to include a dear and faithful friend and the spouse of my former pastor in Maryland. Every Sunday evening for many years, Julie invited me into her home to drink coffee and to pray, often into the wee hours of the night. It is through this discipleship experience that I came to know truly that Jesus was and is better than anything this world affords, the priority of prayer in the life of a believer, and so, so much more.
Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?
A: The hymn “Trust and Obey” comes to mind as I consider something the Lord has taught me in the last year. While trust/obedience seems so elementary to being a follower of Christ, it has been a lesson that the Lord has needed to reteach me again and again. Naturally, I am inclined to work out a solution in my own strength or to try to do something/anything to produce the desired result, rather than trusting in the all-powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere present God who has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son (Colossians 1:13). So, whether it is trusting the Lord to transform the hearts and lives of family and friends or trusting that He has divinely placed me in a challenging circumstance, by His grace, I am learning once again to recall to mind who He is and what He has done and simply trust and obey.
