Meet the Women of NAOBC – Christine Headrick

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Christine Headrick.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: My husband, Josh, and I met at Boyce College and Southern Seminary where I was a music major. Josh wants to go into pastoral ministry. Currently I have a couple of part-time jobs doing office work at an insurance company and an emergency veterinary hospital. We do not have any kids yet. We’d love to grow our family at some point in the future, Lord willing. In the meantime, we like to joke that if our dog Cash makes it through college, then “we’ll see.”

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: We’ve been at NAOBC for about 5 years. Josh and I lived in his hometown in Tennessee for about four years shortly after we were married and wanted to move back to Louisville for his Seminary education. NAOBC was the first church we visited, and while we visited a few other churches we loved all of you welcoming, encouraging people. I believe Gabe Hinerman was the first person who spoke to us, which should surprise no one! I serve as our BFG prayer leader and help from time to time with social media in the communications team.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: I’m a big video game nerd! I enjoy the interactive narrative and beautiful visuals video games provide and they’re just plain fun!

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: I’m not ashamed to be cliche and say my Mom has made the most impact in my life! My Mom passed away at age 61 in 2010 of pancreatic cancer and at the same time I was just starting to get old enough that I appreciated her as a friend. Since her passing, I look back on her example as a strong woman and loving wife. When my Dad got esophageal cancer and was unable to swallow food, my Mom was up to care for him every four hours for around four years until he passed away in 2004. She was strong and her faith unwavering in the midst of trial and her example gives me strength today.

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: What a year this has been! I know everyone can say the same. Looking at the past year, the primary theme that comes to mind is the Lord’s providing grace and strength. This has been an incredibly tough year for everyone, me included. But throughout it all, the Lord has always been there giving me enough strength to get through each day. I’ll be honest, this was a tough question for me! My devotional life has suffered over the past year. I love Pastor Cook’s description of “One step forward, two steps back” when describing the Christian walk. I get so much comfort in knowing that the Lord is RICH in MERCY and has blessings for His children. No matter how imperfectly I reflect Christ, when the Father looks at me CHRIST is what He sees. Thanks be to God for His Glorious Gift!
