Meet the Women of NAOBC – Chanda Brown

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Chanda Brown.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: I am married to Philip, NAOBC Singles & College Pastor and we have 2 kids – Leah (12) and Conner (8). I have worked as an HR/Payroll Administrator at Frito-Lay for 15 years. I currently work from home part-time.

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: I have been at NAOBC since August 2003 (17 years). I serve alongside Philip in the Singles/College Ministry and BFGs. I have served on the Worship Team since 2004.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: I love to ride 4-Wheelers.

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: My Mom has made the most impact in my life. She has always had a love for God’s Word – reading, studying, teaching. She has demonstrated what faithfully following the Lord and trusting Him looks like my entire life. I have watched her walk hard roads and she never fails to see the goodness of God and praise Him.

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: It seems like the Lord has been teaching me the same lesson for the past three years. I often feel like I need a certain amount of information or data to make a decision that makes me comfortable or feel secure that it’s best. I have walked through several different circumstances over the past three years (some very hard and others just frustrating) where I would constantly think – “I need one more piece of the puzzle and then I would know what to do.” I realized over and over that I wasn’t promised that God would give me all the data I wanted. And even if He did, the world is broken, so even decisions made with what we think is a full picture can end in suffering. I must trust Him and make a choice – big or small. It will be ok. Not because of a right or wrong choice on my part, but because He has promised that He is always faithful and I am His. He will provide what I need – even if that is the strength to walk through the hard road of suffering that I was trying to avoid.
