Meet the Women at NAOBC – Yok Liston
On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Yok Liston.
Q: Tell us about yourself
A: I was born and raised in Thailand, in a Buddhist family. I was the first believer in my family and was the only one for a very long time until last year when the Lord graciously saved my grandma. (Praise the Lord!) I served with the IMB missionaries in Thailand as a local partner right after I graduated from college and that was how I met my sweet husband, Micah Liston. We’ve been married for four and a half years. The Lord blessed us with a son who will come into this world any time now as I am 40 weeks! I am currently working as a Human Resource Consultant at a company called Paylocity. But whenever our boy is here, Lord willing, I’ll be leaving my job and am excited for an opportunity to serve my family as a stay-at-home wife and mom.
Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC
A: We moved from Idaho to Louisville in June 2021, after visiting a couple of churches around, we decided to join Ninth & 0 in November 2021. We love our church and are very grateful for the biblical teaching and strong community building that the church faithfully provides for people. My husband and I are one of the small group leaders in our BFG (YC7). We also love serving in children’s ministry on Sundays as well.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?
A: English is my second language and the book called “Calm My Anxious Heart” was the first English-written book I finished reading (took me almost a year!!). I love cooking! Vienna Coffee is my absolute favorite Ice cream flavor from Graeter’s Ice Cream. I also love the color green, recently we had some renovation in our house and my husband kindly reminded me “Babe, not everything in the house has to be green”, though he still painted our baby nursery in green and lets me pick a lot of things for our house in some sort of green. 😂
Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?
A: My very first mentor in Thailand, her name is Oratai. She loves the Lord and is fully devoted to Jesus. Just as it was so crucial for a newborn to have good care to establish in life until they can walk strongly by themselves, as a very young believer the Lord blessed me with a mentor who absolutely loved the Lord with all her heart. Out of that she poured her life into me, taught me the Bible, pointed me to the Lord, and lived her life for Christ as an example. Once I moved to America, Nancy Demoss Wolgemuth had such a great impact on my life through her Revive Our Heart podcast ministry. Now I’ve loved and been blessed by Elizabeth Elliot’s podcast.
Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?
A: The Lord has continually grown me in surrendering my will to Him and taking it one day, one moment at a time. His grace is enough for me each day. He is my perfect portion, the source of all things I need. “My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” (Psalms 73:26)
