Meet the Women at NAOBC – Whoy Shang

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Whoy Shang.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: Elon and I have been married for 33 years. We have six kids, two bichons, and Elon’s mom living with us. I’m a nurse practitioner with the Norton Memory Clinic.

Q: How long have you been at NAOBC? BFG? Areas where you serve?

A: We’ve been at Ninth & O since 2012. We’re in Dr. Eilieff’s BFG, AC2. I serve in preschool with my family and sing in the choir.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: I’ve been married three times…to the same man.

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: I would say, my mom. She has dementia now, but she continues to serve at church and serve her family. I see her once a month, and she always tries to take care of me when I’m there to take care of her.  To be a better Sunday school teacher, she took seminary classes (in Chinese) when she was in her 50s after my father had passed away. Her life is an example to me: to serve others to the best of my ability and never to stop learning.

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: His sovereign choice, I can rest in His plan for my life and my family’s life no matter what happens.

Whoy isn’t on social media, but be sure to say hello at church.
