Meet the Women at NAOBC – Terri George

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Terri George.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: I’m the younger of two children; I have an older brother. I have one son, Patrick, who is 32. I grew up in St. Matthews and attended Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church – Sunday school, Kindergarten, VBS, youth group and choir. I graduated with a BS in Housing & Interior Design from University of KY. I have been blessed to practice commercial interior design for my entire career, primarily space planning, in the fields of healthcare, industrial, corporate and government. In addition, I taught interior design at Sullivan for 12 years and was the Department Chair for 6. I also taught sophomore studio and architectural history at U of L for four years as an adjunct instructor.

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: I have been a member of NAOBC for approximately 7 years and am currently serving as a greeter in the children’s lobby.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: I love ironing!

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: My paternal grandmother made the most impact on my life. She was a strong Christian woman and encouraged me to read scripture verses and pray. I felt loved and cherished by her. She was also my style icon. She had great personal style and a great interior design aesthetic. She was very much a lady.

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: The Lord has taught me so very much this past year with my husband’s cancer and passing. Trust, trust, and more trust. Letting go and following His will. Being a servant, not only to my husband, but to others as a way of healing from the pain of loss and mourning. Not leaning on my own understanding. Realizing that it’s not about me and my circumstances.
