Meet the Women at NAOBC – Savannah McDonald

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Savannah McDonald.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: I was born and raised in the northwest and spent most of my life in Idaho. My husband (Logan) and I moved to Kentucky in 2022 to pursue seminary education and start a family. We were married in June of 2020 (crazy I know). I started working with Reaching & Teaching International Ministries shortly after moving to Kentucky as a remote HR Associate. I have loved working there and making sweet friendships while helping get the Gospel message out! In the last year, when I wasn’t working I was usually resting or at doctor appointments because I spent most of the year pregnant with our sweet baby girl, Selah, who was born recently in mid December. Normally, I enjoy the outdoors, hiking, painting, cooking, and loving on my friends and family!

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: We have been at NAOBC since October 2022 and became members in January 2023. We have loved our time at NAOBC and it has become a sweet source of family as we moved away from everything we have ever known. We are a part of the amazing YC7 BFG and love them to death! Aside from that I have deeply enjoyed Rose and Michelle’s Wednesday Discipleship group so much! Both of those ladies are an incredible source of encouragement. We have been slowly involving ourselves in the Avery Apartment Ministry and have really enjoyed attending large events and meeting the residents. We are currently trying to touch up on our Spanish during the newborn naps to help us communicate better with the residents.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A. A fun fact about me is that if you don’t find me doing chores or working, you will find me in the kitchen perfecting my latest obsession meal. Cooking and baking is a deep love of mine and I really enjoy cooking as a love language! Beware—my food can get spicy.

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: I have been so lucky that God has provided so many women in my life that have impacted me and stepped into a “mother” role I needed. One is my spiritual Mama, Kimber, and Grandy, Jeannette. They took me under their wing when I first came to church by myself at 16. They discipled me, gave me a safe place of escape, held me accountable, and continue to always be a constant in my life. I give the Lord and them credit for the woman I am today. They were so faithful with God’s call to discipleship.

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: In the last year, we have had a lot of hard circumstances presented to us. In a lot of the times there was a temptation to become bitter and ungrateful. But the Lord is so merciful to convict me of those things and help me to find my true joy and hope in Him. He has taught me the power of His love, and through his Word and through His church. We named our baby girl after a Psalm I continually have gone back to and relied on many times in the last 7 years—but especially in the last year—Psalm 46.

”God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah“ ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭46‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Through each circumstance, I have felt the Lord stop me at different sections in this Psalm to wait, think and reflect on His love, power, and sovereignty over our circumstances. Praise the Lord for His goodness and kindness to us.
