Meet the Women at NAOBC – Ruthie Shaw

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Ruthie Shaw.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: I am originally from the great state of Texas! I am married to Caleb and we will celebrate our 5-year anniversary this summer! We have the cutest 15-month-old little girl named Annie, and I stay home with her. I am also working on a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from SBTS!

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: We started coming to NAOBC in October 2016, after we moved to Louisville to attend SBTS. We love our BFG, YC3 and the lifelong friends we’ve made! Caleb and I both serve on the worship team, and I also serve in the college ministry.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: I love to craft and do hand-lettering and am working on starting an Etsy shop!

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: The woman who has made the biggest impact in my life is my mom, Jennifer Johnson. She has always modeled what it looks like to serve the Lord and others. One specific example of this is that while I was in college, my parents moved from the Dallas/Fort Worth Area, where they had lived for 30 years, to Washington D.C. to help plant a church. My mom served tirelessly in many different areas and just is a great example of selfless service!

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: This year I have been noticing over and over the link between faith and obedience. The Lord has been increasing my desire to delight in knowing His Word and obeying His commands. The pandemic has had so many negatives, but one positive thing is that it’s helped me get into a really good routine of studying God’s Word, and I am really thankful for that!
