Meet the Women at NAOBC – Rachel Salter

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Rachel Salter.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: I was born and raised outside of Houston, Texas, before my family moved to Georgia while I was in high school. During my teen years, the Lord laid a burden on my heart to take the gospel to the nations, and I have served in various short and long-term mission capacities in the States and overseas. I moved to Louisville last year to study at Southern Seminary. I am majoring in missions while praying for the Lord to open new doors of opportunity for international missionary service after I graduate. I currently work in the Accounting office at Southern.

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: I have been at NAOBC for a little less than a year. NAOBC was actually the very first church I visited in Louisville, and I just couldn’t stay away! I am part of the Singles BFG, and I serve in the children’s ministry in Kid’s Worship.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: I have gone swimming with pink river dolphins in the Amazon River! It was such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, I knew I couldn’t pass it up. My group took at boat out to the middle of nowhere, a guide brought out some fish, and before long we were surrounded by dolphins. They weren’t domesticated by any means, so they did get a little snappy when the fish ran out.

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: I would not be the woman I am today without the influence of my Mom. Her example of faith during my childhood, through her own daily time spent in the Word and prayer as well as by leading me towards the Lord, served to provide a foundation for my own walk with God. She models godly womanhood, and it has been a joy to see our relationship evolve from my childhood into adulthood as we have become closer not just as mother/daughter but also as sisters in Christ.

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: The Lord has reminded me over and over in the last year of His faithfulness. He has been teaching me that I need to trust and rely on Him, not myself or others, regardless of the situation. When my anxieties and doubts threaten to cloud my trust in Him, I have turned to Isaiah 40:28-31. When we wait on the Lord, rather than trying to handle it all on our own, the outcome is always better.
