Meet the Women at NAOBC – Rachel Higbee
On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Rachel Higbee.
Q: Tell us about yourself
A: I am the oldest of three, and I love my family dearly. I graduated from Cedarville in 2022 where I studied Professional Writing and Information Design. The Lord then led me to Southern Seminary to study biblical counseling (that’s a long story but I’d love to share more, so feel free to ask me sometime!) I am also working as a Boyce College Admissions Counselor (if you’re reading this and have high schoolers, send them my way!) After I complete my degree, I hope to minister to hurting youth or young women in a church or parachurch setting while also writing and designing counseling curriculum or resources. I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store!
Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC
A: I have been at NAOBC for just over a year, and I absolutely LOVE it. There were so many things that drew me to Ninth & O, but the warmth and intentionality of our congregation still never ceases to amaze me. I am in the Singles BFG and have enjoyed getting to serve with the high school girls for about a year now!

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?
A: I was born at 6am sharp on my due date! My mom said it was a sign I was always going to be on time, but I took after her and always seem to be running a few minutes behind haha!
Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?
A: My mom is one of the most loving, sweet, and hospitable people I know. She is constantly begging me and my siblings to bring our friends over so she can meet them and welcome them with food and laughter. She has little care what people think of her and is the most precious soul. Her mentality about life, living with joy and freedom in Christ, is something I hope to embody. I’m so thankful for her. I’ve also had several amazing mentor figures in my life over the past five years…I’ve been blessed to know and be served by many amazing women over the years.
Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?
A: Considering this past year brought a massive amount of change (moving states, pursuing a degree, switching jobs, building a new friend group, choosing a new church, etc.) the Lord has continually reminded me of my call to abide in Him, the only unchanging, steady source of hope and peace. I have often meditated on John 15, where Jesus says that He is the vine and we are the branches. Apart from Him we can do nothing! This has been a convicting passage that challenges my innate desire to grip onto situations that are not in my control. He has taught me how to have confidence in Him rather than in my abilities, shown me his grace in times of weakness, and reminded me of his faithfulness when believing lies. I am so thankful for a God you cannot out-sin and whose love doesn’t fluctuate. Praise the Lord for his grace in my life and in the lives of our church body!
