Meet the Women at NAOBC – Rachel Adams
On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Rachel Adams.
Q: Tell us about yourself
A: I have been married to my wonderful husband, Chris for 14 years. He is an electrician with the local electrical union. We have two children, Nora and Calvin. I am a homemaker and I homeschool.
Nora is precocious, wildly creative, imaginative, and loves all things science. Calvin is joyful, witty, inventive, and has recently discovered a fondness for super heroes.
Calvin has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne is a rare irreversible genetic disease that leads to progressive muscle weakness. There is no cure for Duchenne, it is terminal. Thankfully there are new and advanced treatments that slow the continuing muscle deterioration. Calvin is able to receive such medication via weekly infusions. We have seen that it is helping with his strength, stamina, and balance.
Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC
A: Our family began going to NAOBC in Spring 2020. We felt immediately welcomed and cared about. Shortly after beginning to attend NAOBC we joined our BFG, IC6. We are incredibly grateful for our BFG and the relationships that we have forged. I serve monthly on Sunday mornings in the toddler or preschool classes. Chris has assisted with several jobs around the church utilizing his knowledge as an electrician.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?
A: A fun fact about me is that I have traveled to Africa, Switzerland, and Hungary on mission trips.
Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?
A: A women who has made the biggest impact in my life is my Mom. She is selfless, prays continually, and is always willing to serve her family to the best of her ability. She is one of my biggest supporters. I treasure our relationship.
Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?
A: The Lord has taught me that He is sovereign over all things. His plans are beyond my understanding and He never leaves or forsakes His children. Our family has walked through an overwhelming year since Calvin’s diagnosis last December. Yet, we remain faithful because He is faithful. We can face tomorrow knowing that the Lord is with us.
