Meet the Women at NAOBC – Natalie Whitcomb

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Natalie Whitcomb.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: I currently work at a Family Law office and live with my four children who are six and under. My passion is fostercare and I have cared for eight children in five years. I write articles for Focus on the family about fostercare and also teach foster parent orientation for Orphan Care Alliance.

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: I joined Ninth and O in 2015 and have served on and off in the preschool ministry and BFG in different roles. I currently go to the senior adult ladies BFG. Although I am not a senior adult, I feel at home with these amazing ladies who inspire me everyday to love the Lord, my children and shower me with prayer and scripture. Do not miss out on getting to know them!

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: When I was a child, I severely burned my tongue by taking a big gulp of hot chocolate I didn’t realize was extremely hot. To this day I am terrified of burning my tongue and I test every hot drink I get by using a spoon first.

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: There have been different women in each season of my life that have had a huge impact on me. In this current season, Holly Brewton has been a tremendous blessing to me. I went through the darkest time in my life recently and she has believed in me, advocated for me, listened to me, and challenged me through it. I have a deep level of respect and thankfulness for her.

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: That no matter who or what you lose, healing is possible with God. In 2021/2022 I lost almost everything and everyone. My whole world collapsed in what simultaneously seemed like a moment and a thousand years. I spent many nights hugging my Bible and listening to scripture being read out loud. I was broken and desperate. Literally clinging to Gods word moment by moment. God heard me. God turned my brokenness into healing and desperation into a deeper relationship with him. Yes I lost a life but I gained a much better one. Joel 2:25 “I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.” He has truly restored and healed and you can heal too.
