Meet the Women at NAOBC – Megan Dent

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Megan Dent.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: I moved to Louisville back in 2015 to attend SBTS to get my M.A. in Discipleship and Family Ministry and graduated in 2020. I was originally born in Illinois and then moved to Virginia. My family still lives in Virginia but they always love coming to visit NAOBC! I have my Mom, older sister and brother-in-law, my younger brother and the cutest nephew you’ll ever meet (but I might be biased). I currently work at Spectrum Business in technical support. I hope to soon start writing a book about different family dynamics and the benefits to family discipleship.

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: I’ve been attending NAOBC for the past eight years. It had been awhile since I’ve attended a church that has felt like family but I’m glad I’ve found that at NAOBC. I attend the singles BFG and serve in the Worship Ministry.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: One thing people don’t know about me, well Kentucky people, is my love for art. My undergraduate was Graphic Design but my new hobby is trying to be somewhat skilled in all fine art mediums! Recently I’ve been working with oils pastels.

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: My Mom has made the biggest impact in my life. We lost my dad to cancer back when I was five, but that didn’t stop my mom from keeping Christian values the focus of our house. It wasn’t until I got older that I realized how beneficial our family devotions were. Apparently it’s not the typical thing to buy your kids children’s inductive Bible study books or go through Revelation and have coloring pages of the four beasts. Even today my Mom has a way of taking the most basic conversation and pointing it back to Christ.

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: The big thing that the Lord has taught me this year is to trust His plan. This year, I reached another one of those fun, milestone birthdays. It’s easy to look back at your life and feel like a failure because you didn’t accomplish what you thought you should by this time in your life. so this year has been a reminder that God’s plan is better than my plans, and His timing is better than my timeline.
