Meet the Women at NAOBC – Linda Bertram

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Linda Bertram.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: I am originally from Wisconsin and had retired from a full-time career as a medical billing specialist in 2016. I am currently working part time from home as an online epay support person for a billing service.
I have three adult children. My youngest Krista and her spouse, Andy, along with three of my seven grandchildren live in Wisconsin. Also my oldest son, Fred, lives there too. My middle son, Mike, lives here in Louisville with his wife Heather and the other four of my grandchildren. I’m very blessed.

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: I started attending NAOBC after arriving here in November 2017. I became a member in 2018 and at that time was a part of the senior BFG. Currently I’m in the Woman’s BFG and serve as a care leader. I truly am blessed to pray, encourage, and serve the women in my BFG. Before Covid and my recent knee replacement, I served as a greeter and was a choir member.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A. I had lived in Sugar Hill, Georgia, for 10 months before moving here. I attended First Baptist of Buford where Chad Todd is the worship pastor. He contacted Philip Brown and his sister, Chanda, to welcome me when I arrived at NAOBC. Also Mike and Carol Smith welcomed me, who are the parents of Tracy Todd, Chad’s wife. I had learned also about NAOBC from Shirley Moskovich whom her son, Mark, knew my son, Mike. So I was definitely connected to NAOBC before I even arrived! God is good. The Sunday I arrived I was greeted by a tall southern gentleman named Tommy Sims. A friendly welcome indeed. Both him and his wife, Vanessa, have been a special support to me as a newcomer.

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: My cousin, Arlene, whom I have known since childhood has been a great Godly influence in my life. She and her husband were the Christians who helped lead me in becoming a follower of Christ. She is a mentor and prayer warrior for me and my family.

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: Since Covid, God had been teaching me to focus more on the Word of God than the situation. Not easy at times. My favorite verse since becoming a senior adult is from Isaiah 46:4
“Even to your old age and gray hairs
I am He, I am He who will sustain you
I have made you and I will carry you
I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
What comforting words from an unchanging, faithful, loving Lord.
