Meet the Women at NAOBC – Kim Schroeder

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Kim Schroeder.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: I am married to Jim Schroeder. I have no children of my own, but I am a step-mom to Joey, and we recently lost my step-daughter, Lilly. We are eagerly anticipating Joey and his wife Lindsay starting a family. I am a student in the professional doctoral program at SBTS. I aim to equip churches with the knowledge to help those ensnared in drug and alcohol abuse. I also clean a few houses to pay tuition, homeschool my 16-year-old nephew, and counsel women whenever possible.

Q: How long have you been at NAOBC? BFG? Areas where you serve?

A: We have been members at Ninth and O for over a year. I am a member of IC4, which Ted and Kelly Kantorski lead. It is the best BFG at the church. My husband and I both serve as greeters on Sunday mornings. I am also the point person for planning our quarterly activities in our BFG.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: I love to do everything creative. I love gardens, knitting, leatherwork, decorating, party planning, sewing, etc.

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: I have a hard time narrowing this one down. My mom has had a great impact on my life. She is one of my closest friends and was the first to teach me about Jesus. My best friend, Marcia, has taught me what the love of a friend is really like. She is a true sister. Sara-Elizabeth Cottrell has been discipling me for the last five years and has helped shape me. The Holy Spirit has used her in mighty ways in my life.

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: I am currently reading “The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment” by Jeremiah Burrows. Sara-Elizabeth picked this book for us to walk through together. The Lord knew what He was doing in allowing us to pick this book. I am learning what it truly means to be content with what the Lord has for me at this moment in my life. I have fumbled through the last couple of years as the Lord has made huge changes in our finances, lifestyle, career, and loss. I thought all of these changes would be the hardest things I could walk through, and some of them are, but the Lord has been very kind as he walks through it with me.
