Meet the Women at NAOBC – Heather Kari

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Heather Kari.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: My name is Heather Kari. I’m marred to my wonderful husband David who I met at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. We both came (separately) to study at Southern in 2016 and met in a class. We got married in 2017. In 2020 we had our baby. I’m a stay-at-home wife and mom.

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: I joined NAOBC in the Fall of 2016. My husband and I served together in the Wednesday night children’s ministry up until March 2020 when the church had to pause Wednesday night activities. We loved working with the 3-5th graders!
We are members of the YC7 BFG. With young couples, helping usually means loading a moving truck or taking couples a meal when they have a baby. I also enjoy taking a turn teaching a Bible study and just hanging out with the sweet ladies in our BFG.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: I’ve been to Zambia and India.

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: Different women have been impactful at different stages in my life, but I’d have to say my Mom, because she’s been there for every stage. She’s so godly and so humble. She serves others, is so generous, and she has so much wisdom from life experience.

I can think of many other women who have mentored me, prayed for me, challenged me, and have become like family. Some of those ladies were there only for a specific season of my life, and some are still good friends. I’m so thankful for how God has placed the right person in my life at the right time.

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: I’ll start with a couple of verses.
“The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:5-6 ‭ESV‬‬
“Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah”‭‭Psalm‬ ‭62:8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I’ve been learning that

  1. God is near, and that’s why I don’t have to be worried
  2. And that God wants me to trust Him by telling Him my requests.
