Meet the Women at NAOBC – Gail Hinson

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Gail Hinson.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: I have been married to Bruce for 40 years in July. I was a Minnesota girl for my first 30+ years where I met Jesus as my Savior and Lord at the age of 30. I had been teaching 2nd grade in a rural community for eight years. After I met Jesus, I enrolled at St Paul Bible College to obtain a one year Bible certificate. I was pondering my next chapter when the Lord directed me to move to Colorado Springs to teach at a Christian School. My second year in Colorado Springs, I met Bruce and we married about five months later. Our only child, Nathan, was born there. After staying home for several years, I returned to teaching. A new direction came after 15 years at the Christian school and I became a receptionist in the Executive area of Focus on the Family. I had the wonderful privilege of being part of Dr. Dobson’s team and also met many wonderful and some very well known guests in my 11 years of employment there. Our son met and married a girl from Louisville. You can take the girl out of Louisville, but you can’t take the Kentucky out of the girl. Within their first year of marriage, they announced they were moving to Louisville. Another change of direction was headed our way. With the birth of our first grandson, Oliver, we were now 1,000 miles away. We never imagined living any other place but Colorado Springs but two years later we packed a moving truck and headed east. Our second grandson, Henry, was born several months before we arrived.

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: We have been at 9th and O for almost eight years and are blessed to be part of the AC3 where we enjoy wonderful teaching, support, fun and fellowship. I have served in VBS one year and look forward to being able to help again this year. Several years ago, I went on the Oneida Missions trip. Presently I am a greeter at the 9AM service several times a month.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: My maiden name was Hanson so I went from an A to an I. When Bruce and I first met I thought he would easily remember my name. Not so!

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: My mother’s sister was a strong believer long before my mother was. I know my aunt prayed me into the Kingdom and after receiving Christ we went to the same church. My aunt continuously lent me good Christian books and invited me to conferences where I was eager to learn about living the Christian life.

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: I started a new journal on March 18th, 2020. Certainly this past year has been a rollercoaster of emotions. My journal is filled with Scriptures to hang on to. Thankfully, the Lord reminded me quickly of Revelation 21:1-7 where John describes the new heaven and earth, no more tears, pain or death. None of this is out of His sight. All will pass away including Covid and there is a happy ending where we will enjoy perfect fellowship with the Alpha and Omega and all of His Saints! Hallelujah!
