Meet the Women at NAOBC – Fiona Tollefson

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Fiona Tollefson

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: I will be a Junior at Boyce College this Fall, studying strategic communication. I love writing and using the gifts that God has given me for ministry opportunities. I love sports, animals, gardening, skateboarding, hanging with friends, babysitting…many different things. I hope to one day go into journalism or work for a ministry in their communication department.

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: I have been a member at NAOBC for two years now. I attend the College BFG and have been fortunate enough to serve in the nursery under Beth Blackwell. I also serve as the editor of the College & Singles blog. In addition to that, I love serving in any way possible setting up or taking down events for our College BFG.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: Many people don’t know that my family actually went to Ninth & O when I was little. My Dad went to Southern Seminary and my family (Tom, Sandi, Aidan, Kiernan, and Riley) attended NAOBC until I was in about third grade.

A more fun fact about me would be my love for horses! I love all things horses, country, and barrell racing!! I grew up next to a barn when I lived in Louisville as a child and spent hours upon hours next door learning how to ride and take care of horses.

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: Undoubtedly, Liz Howell has had the most impact in my life and my walk with Christ. She took me under her wing when I first came to NAOBC my first semester at Boyce. She has exemplified to me what it looks like to trust God with all her heart and to faithfully love others. She has given me Godly counsel when I reach hard decisions in my life. There have been many times where I feel like I must complete a list of “To do’s” in order to measure up, but her sweet encouragements to simply “lean into Jesus” have drastically impacted my life.

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: In the last year, the Lord has taught me that his grace is sufficient for me and He is all I need. With many of my plans that I thought were set in place thrown away due to Covid, or anxieties I felt due to being in a college environment…I felt many times like I was at a crossroads deciding if I will trust in God or listen to the lies of the world that sound so enticing. In a conversation with Kathleen Hanley, she asked me “Fiona, is Jesus enough and is He worth the fight?” To which she immediately answered her own question with a resounding yes. The Lord has taught me day after day this year, that He is worth the fight and worthy of all praise. The Lord has grown me in a deeper knowledge of His sufficient love, grace, and guidance in the last year. Even when everything surrounding me seems to be chaos, He is good and He is all I need!
