Meet the Women at NAOBC – Crystal Amyx

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Crystal Amyx

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: Tim and I have been married for 10 years. We actually attended the same high school and were part of the same graduating class, but started dating years after. We have five children Hunter (10), Jaxon (9), Weston and Wyatt (8), and Riley (5). We reside in Fisherville . I am a part-time PTA (physical therapist assistant). Tim and I have been certified foster parents for two years.

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: We have been members of NAOBC for eight years. Tim is the Director of our BFG (IC1). I have been a community group leader, and I also serve in Preschool. I was able to visit our BFG’s adopted missionary family in Argentina in 2018.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A: I have always dreamed of being a tornado chaser! The anticipation of big storms thrills me!

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: The woman that has made the most impact on my life would be my Mother-in-law. Her faith is consistent, unwavering, solid. She loves God and everyone fiercely; even those she has just met! Her childhood was traumatic as a foster child in the 60’s & 70’s but it shaped her character much differently than most would imagine! She raised three sons, making sure they knew who God was and that they were always in church and had the consistency and love of a church family. I think she did an exceptional job on a particular son, though!

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: The Lord has taught me in the last year to allow myself to be uncomfortable for His glory. We are fostering two brothers that have been with us for almost a year, now. While it has been incredibly rewarding and special, there have also been time of intense frustration, emotional intensity, and a feeling of never having enough time! However, for me and my family , this what God has called us to. I have learned to hold tight in the uncomfortable moments and lean on Him to get me through.
