Meet the Women at NAOBC – Ashley Copeland

On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Ashley Copeland.

Q: Tell us about yourself

A: My husband, Jonathan, and I are high school sweethearts who have been married for nearly 13 years and together for 17 years. We have an almost 7-year old daughter named Shelby Grace, who is a First Grader at CAL, and a Lhasa Poo puppy named Chandler. I am an elementary and middle school music and art teacher in Bullitt County and love it!

Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC

A: Our family began attending NAOBC virtually during the height of the pandemic and started coming in person last Easter (2021). We decided to join in the Fall and make this our church home! We are part of the IC6 BFG under Jonah Chitty & Derek Riley—whoop whoop! I occasionally serve in the children’s ministry, singing in choir, and through our BFG.

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?

A. I am a cancer survivor (almost three years) and am very thankful to have this as part of my testimony of the Lord’s goodness and faithfulness!

Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?

A: As silly as it may sound, I really admire Dolly Parton! She is from East Tennessee, where my husband and I are also from, and she has followed her dreams and worked hard her whole life, while staying true to who she is as a person. She is kind and generous, a loving Christian who always gives back to her community and to children, and she is fun and fabulous! I just love her!

Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?

A: One thing that has always been a theme in my life is to quit relying on my own strength, desires, or ways of doing things and instead allow God to lead me. I am an anxious person and too often I try to be in control of everything instead of just giving it to God. He is constantly reminding me that HE is good, HE is in charge, and HIS ways are always better than ours!
