Meet the Women at NAOBC – Ashley Beougher
On Mondays, we’ll take time to meet the women of NAOBC. Five questions followed by how you can connect with the NAOBC women on social media. Today’s interview is with Ashley Beougher.
Q: Tell us about yourself.
A. I’m married to my favorite person in the world, Jon! We started dating at 16, were married at 19, and have been married 17t years. I’m a Middle School History/Math teacher 3 days a week and homeschool my kids (Brandon, 12, and Abigail, 10) the other 2 days. We are Louisville natives and are an adventure-loving family! In 2021, we took a year-long trip around the world and have visited 45+ countries (30 with our kids!). Our latest adventure has been building a house, doing a big portion of it ourselves!
Q: Tell us about your time at NAOBC
A: We came to 9th and O 18 years ago for the college age ministry. We hated to leave the group even after we got married. After Blake Ring did a 3 month class series on “Finding the One”, we figured that was his way of gently nudging us to find a young couples class. 😂 We were pretty bummed when this class officially graduated to “intermediate age”!
We feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to serve in so many areas at 9th and O. I’ve been on the women’s ministry team for 15 years. We headed up a homeless ministry for close to 10 years. Our first group of babies in the nursery are now Seniors in high school (thinking about you, Emma Barrett!) We’ve also had the privilege of going to New York City, Israel, and Uganda with the church!

Q: What is a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?
A: Our favorite countries in the world are ones that have a little bit of everything and check a lot of boxes for a single country. Egypt, Italy, and Colombia (… or Peru… I can’t decide!) are some of our favorites for this reason. They are cheap, have yummy food, have history, architecture, mountains, beaches… a little something for everyone!
Q: What woman has made the most impact in your life?
A. If you know my upbringing, you know I can’t choose just one! We joke in my family that I was probably the most loved child on the planet. My childhood was a little unconventional as I was the only child of divorced parents. Often extended relatives have to step in because of an absent or challenging parent situation (and praise God for these people!) However, I had two parents that loved me like crazy AND a godly aunt and two grandmas that helped raise me into the woman I am today. I was so abundantly, over-and-above blessed in this way. Later in my teen years, my step-dad and (now) in-laws poured into and mentored me spiritually as well. I’ve always seen this as blessing upon blessing upon blessing!
Q: What is something the Lord has taught you in the last year?
A: When the Lord has called you to something and you are walking in His will, he can enable you to fight discouragement when it gets difficult. My coworkers at school joke that my favorite word for teaching Middle School is RESET! Some days you have you go home, pray over your ministry, and reset the next day, believing that God has equipped you for what he’s called you to. Our book we are reading for our summer book chat has been a continual reminder of this.
“You can’t give up every time you grow weary of doing good. You are called to faithfully and her seasons of discouragement, trusting that God is at work in you as you labor joyfully within his kingdom.”
