Day 4 – Jesus’ Final Week – The Betrayal of Jesus Christ
“After Tuesday’s controversies and teaching, Jesus and His disciples appear to have spent Wednesday in Bethany. The Gospels do not record any activity by Jesus on that day, which is the reason the day is called “Silent Wednesday.” Judas likely used this opportunity to venture the two miles into Jerusalem to meet with the chief priests and leaders to negotiate handing Jesus over to them.” (53)
Scripture Passages:
Matthew 26:14-16
Mark 14:10-11
Luke 22:3-6

Whatever motivated Judas to betray Jesus, the act reminds us of how far one can go in religion and not be saved. Judas saw and heard things the Old Testament prophets longed to see and hear; yet, for whatever reason, he hardened his heart to the grace of God. The Bible makes clear Judas was responsible for his actions despite satanic involvement. ” (55)
