Day 3 – Jesus’ Final Week – Temple Controversies and Teaching

“When Jesus arrived in the city on Tuesday morning, He was confronted by a series of hostile questions that were intended to trap Him in front of the crowds. Jesus’ battle of wits with His opponents demonstrates His Wisdom and incredibly deep understanding of the Scriptures. The first four questions came from Jesus’ opponents, but He turned the table on them and asked a final question they were unable to answer.” (27)

Scripture Passages:

Read Chapter 3 of Jesus’ Final Week

“If the events discussed in this chapter all took place on Tuesday of Passion Week, then the day was quite full for Jesus. Between the discovery of the withered fig tree and His predictions of the destruction of the temple and the end of the world, Jesus battled His harshest critics. Of all that took place on that day, a few truths stand out for special comment. First, Jesus hates religious hypocrisy. Second, we learn from the impoverished widow that no good deed done for God’s glory goes unnoticed by Him. Third, the most important truth Jesus taught on this day was about His second coming.” (48-50)
