Day 10 – Jesus’ Final Week – The Resurrection of Jesus Christ
“The resurrection narratives in the Gospels offer both compelling evidence for the historicity of Jesus’ bodily resurrection from the dead and inspiring instructions on its implication for believers. Once again, we will see that the four Gospels offer complementary presentations of the resurrection events, rather than merely repeating an “official transcript” of what transpired.” (143)
Scripture Passages:
Matthew 28:1-20
Mark 16:1-8
Luke 24:1-53
John 20:1 – 21:25
Read Chapter 10 of Jesus’ Final Week
“The implications of Jesus’ bodily resurrection from the dead are numerous.
(1) Jesus’ resurrection establishes our eschatological hope.
(2) Jesus’ resurrection vindicates the Christian worldview.
(3) Jesus’ resurrection was a conquest over the forces of darkness.
(4) Jesus’ resurrection motivates us for kingdom advancement.
The boldness of a believer to spread the gospel message does not come from confidence in his or her own station and abilities. Instead, our confidence flows from the knowledge that we serve the One who is seated on heaven’s throne. And only through the resurrection do we gain knowledge of Jesus’ cosmic standing. The Lord has risen! He has risen, indeed!” (157-160)
