Corralling the Chaos – What Do you Do?

I’m sitting here nursing my 3 1/2 month old (who hasn’t been nursing well for the past month), letting my boys watch Go Fish Guys music videos, thinking about the laundry that needs to be hung up and folded as well as making bread and spaghetti for lunch and picking up the house enough to make it presentable for the friend who is coming for lunch.  Hmm, I think that’s a run-on sentence but I think that pretty much describes my thoughts these days–one long run-on sentence!

I want to know from other super-busy ladies – How do you make time and clear your mind enough to meditate on the Word…for even just a few moments?  I need some weapons to fight against the temptations that come every few minutes in the form of little boys fighting, rude or invasive comments from people on the street, the over-abundance of noise and people due to the holidays…not to mention all of those temptations that are just a part of the life of a mom–worrying about just anything that comes into my head! I think of all those verses about persistence in prayer and the benefits of meditating on Scripture day and night and, honestly, I feel like one big failure as a Christian, let alone a missionary.

So, what about you?  What practical things do you do in order to mediate and spend time away from the chaos and sit at the feet of Jesus?  Leave your comments below to help encourage each other in spending time with our Savior.
