Our Week in the Word segment is back!!! You can expect mid-week encouragement every Wednesday as we hear from one of our leaders. This week, we hear from Philip Brown, our College and Singles Pastor.
Sun’s out…Gun’s Out
While I was in high school, the basketball players used to always roll our sleeves up when working out to show our biceps/guns. Most of us didn’t like tank tops so we either rolled our shirtsleeves up or cut the sleeves out completely. Yes…this is not a new thing college students.
Today was a great day to get the guns out. No… I didn’t cut off the sleeves of my I Love MY Church shirt. I was actually able to get out of the house and be what God has called me to be. A light in a dark world. It was sweet!! It is crazy. People are more apt to talk if they aren’t going to freeze to death. So…just today…I was able to talk to about 10 unchurched individuals or non-believers. It started at Starbucks (of course) and ended with some neighborhood kids playing basketball in our front driveway. As we learned from I Peter this week in BFG, I was able to be a light in a dark world.
“God has chosen me to be a light. That is not just prescriptive but descriptive.”
I was so encouraged today to get the guns out again spiritually. The weather the rest of this week looks very promising. Let’s use it to let our lights shine.
