On Mission to Engage Our City, Nation, and World with the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Jesus came to Earth on a mission to redeem and restore humanity and the cosmos (Luke 19:10, Romans 8, Ephesians 1:21-23).  Through His death and resurrection, Jesus has perfectly accomplished this salvific work, and we believe and affirm that God has given His people, the Church, the mission of bearing witness to this salvation among all peoples of the earth (Matthew 28:19-20).  Continuing Jesus’ ministry of reconciliation, Christians are called to serve as agents of reconciliation and justice (Luke 10:25-37, 2 Corinthians 5:18-20), even while not being conformed to the pattern of the world (John 17:14-16, Acts 1:8).  Rooted in the truth, we worshipfully work together to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ among all peoples.

Evangelism and missions is of utmost importance to us at Ninth and O.  We have identified Missions as one of our four core values. We realize that just as Jesus was sent on mission by God, so we too are now sent by Jesus to engage our city, nation, and world as agents of reconciliation and justice (2 Corinthians 5:18).

Luke records for us Jesus’ last words to His disciples in Acts 1:8 when he writes, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”  This verse in essence drives our approach to missions. Following this model for missions, we seek to reach our city, our nation, and our world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
